Chadsey Lake (May 18, 2009)
khaulenn - caught 1 Bass using Berkley Power Tube, Gibbs Croc Fire Tiger;
Comments: First time going there, they had the road gated of about 2 km from the path down to the lake so it was quite a hike. Saw lots of little fish, not sure of the species, about 6 to 8 inches long. The little bass I am holding in my pic was a bit of a suprise. Was nice and sunny in the morning, but clouded over around noon.

timofthee - caught 30 Bass (9 in) using Muddler Minnow, Gibbs Croc Cerise Clear Crystal;
Comments: My third time to this lake and as always, it didn't disappoint! The second gate up Sumas Mountain was locked (as usual), so we hiked in. About half an hour to the trail, then half an hour down to the lake. Had about 15 8-12" bass on a pink cross spincasting in the morning, then another 15 on a muddler minnow with a sinking tip. First time hitting bass on the fly. Would recommend as even though they aren't big fighters, they hit HARD!

frogger - caught 2 Bass (8 in) using Zoom ® Soft Plastic Baits - Trick Worms (lots of bites on plastic worms), Live CANADIAN NIGHT CRAWLERS (dew worms), Bass Pro Shops® XPS™ Offset Hooks;
Comments: Don’t do what I did and hike 1 hour all the way to the end of the road, but if you do, you can backtrack, or follow the signs to the lookout/lake, and then hike another hour to the lake. Bring your polarized sunglasses! I saw lots of fish swimming right under me when I walked out on a log.

Peter7288 - caught 1 Rainbow Trout (0.5 lb) using CANADIAN NIGHTCRAWLER;
Comments: A bit of action on the surface and they were too far out to reach with the fly from shore. I only landed the one small guy, and I tried numerous methods. Float and worm was the only thing that produced one.

Comments: Caught my first fish ever on my fly rod, quite the thrill. I was fishing about 15km into the logging rode. I'm now addicted to fly fishing, if only my line didn't snap I would have had some dinner.

Birkenhead Lake - North (May 20, 2013)
Eagle 1 - caught 10 Rainbow Trout (14 in) using Irresistible, Caddis Goddard, Mosquito;
Comments: Water was cooold where Sockeye Creek entered- 48'f/8'c otherwise 52'f/11'c. I tried a bunch of different flies (sinking/dry) while putting around the entrance, but most success was on the flies above. Amazing how the fish could pick these out from all the debris floating in the chop. It took 2 hours to row my pontoon (not just lollygagging)with a strong wind at my back to this area. A few to the boat on the way up and back to launch. Nice to get some firm fish, not the mushy lower mainland type. Average size was 13".

FishingLifeBC - caught 6 Rainbow Trout (0.8 lb) using Wooly Bugger Olive, Berkley ® Power Bait ® for Trout and Panfish (if a fly is not producing a little turd of power bait on the fly will almost always produce results), Bass Pro Shops ® Premium Round Split Shot Weights, Nite Brite™ Lighted Floats, Royal Coachman (if you dont have either of these two flys anything like a leech or musquito will produce);
Comments: The olive wooly bugger on a light 3LB leader 5ft under a float with a weight 18in from the hook worked the best. i had the best luck when the wind picked up and it was raining hard. when conditions are better take the weight off the hook and fish closer to the surface to have the best results. also the east side of the lake seems to produce the best results even though you will see the most fish jump on the west side of the lake it just does not produce the same results. May the fish gods be with you! FishingLife,BC
